The Welsh Government has published its response to Digging the Dirt – Improving Wales’ Soil Health, the report from the Senedd’s Economy, Trade and Rural Affairs Committee that was published in November 2025.
The response sets out how recommendations on protecting and improving soil health will be taken forward across policy, regulation and land management in Wales.
Key points include:
- recognition of soil as a critical natural asset for food production, nature and climate action
- commitment to embedding soil health within existing and future land management and environmental frameworks
- emphasis on evidence, data and guidance to support farmers and land managers
