The new Welsh Government has published its First Supplementary Budget
Finance Minister Elin Jones outlined how the Welsh Government will allocate £294 million across its key priorities for the year ahead.
The budget confirmed new funding as follows:
- £20 million to boost the supply of social housing,
- £40 million to improve school buildings
- £5 million for community facilities
It also includes £10 million on affordable travel for young people, £2 million for the Cynnal child payment and £2 million to give more children the chance to learn to swim.
Key budget announcements had already been made:
- £55 million will be allocated to access to childcare;
- £145 million will be allocated to the NHS, including investment in surgical and diagnostic hubs, and maintenance in hospitals and surgeries.
- £15 million will be allocated to free school meals for families on Universal Credit in secondary schools.
The budget will be debated and voted on 14 July 2026.
