Two half day workshops recently showcased the work of Rural Futures, the community development element of The National Lottery Community Fund’s Rural Programme. The workshops were held at Penmachno, Conwy and Myddfai , Carmarthenshire.
Community representatives presented details of their activities. The programme’s rural expert, Professor Paul Milbourne from Cardiff University outlined some of the characteristics of rural poverty. Endaf Griffiths from Wavehill outlined some of the early findings from the programme evaluation.
Rural Futures is run by Severn Wye and the BRO Partnership. The 7-year programme began in 2017 and will support 14 communities across rural Wales. It supports communities to develop their own ideas to tackle local challenges.
A new Rural Futures toolkit has been launched consisting of ten case studies from across Wales and further afield. It shows how communities have responded to some of the challenges they face.
