The latest Chief Medical Officer Annual Report for Wales provides a wide-angle view of the nation’s health and what needs to change to improve it.
The report confirms that healthy life expectancy in Wales has stalled and inequalities remain stark, with the biggest gains now dependent on shifting the system towards prevention and tackling the wider conditions that shape health.
The report calls for sustained investment in early years, stronger public health measures and a supported, skilled workforce able to work differently.
