Oxfam Cymru have published a new report titled ‘Green, Fair, and Caring: A Feminist Roadmap for Wales’ that focuses on how Wales can respond to injustices of different kinds. The manifesto is an attempt to get to grips with society’s inequalities, outlining a green and just vision for the future of Wales.

The paper was funded by Oxfam Cymru and was written by Dr Alison Parken and Professor Sara MacBride-Stewart from Cardiff University. According to Oxfam Cymru, it’s a contribution to a worldwide vision for a green new deal rooted in the Welsh context. It recognises that climate and economic emergencies are interwoven and occur as a result of unjust systems such as patriarchy, neoliberalism and extractive economies that exploit people and damage the climate. It argues that any just transition towards a more just future should be feminist, recognising the value of care as crucial social infrastructure as well as the injustices at the heart of the current system.

The paper offers many practical recommendations for policy makers in Wales by focusing on four specific areas – social care, work, transport and energy. You can learn more about the report and read all the recommendations across the four subject areas by following this link to Oxfam Cymru’s website.
