NFU Cymru announce details of 2024 Conference

NFU Cymru have announced details of their annual conference that will focus on ‘Securing the Future of Welsh Food’ and how to ensure more sustainable food supply systems. A wide range of industry leaders from the agricultural industry will be speaking at the event to share the latest political, economic and supply side developments with those in attendance.

This years conference will be held at the Metropole Hotel in Llandrindod Wells on Thusday 7 November. Opening the days events will be NFU Cymru President Aled Jones, followed by Huw Irranca-Davies, Deputy First Minister of Wales and Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs who will give a speech and take questions from the audience.

The second session of the day will focus specifically on ensuring sustainable and resilient food systems with Professor Tim Lang, Emeritus Professor of Food Policy at City University London’s Centre for Food Policy. Following this there will be a session looking at the opportunities available to food producers in Wales with Katie Palmer, Programme Manager at Food Sense Wales, Professor Susan Jebb, Chair of the Food Standards Agency and Shelagh Hancock, Chief Executive Officer at First Milk.

After lunch Dr Matthew Wall from Swansea University will lead a session looking at the political landscape in Wales. The final session will welcome John Murray, Director of Meat, Food and Beverages at Bord Bia – The Irish Food Board, to discuss Ireland’s experience of securing and developing markets.
