Growing Mid Wales have announced the launch of a new organisation in collaboration with Ambition North Wales, M-SParc and AberInnovation. The aim of the Cluster Management Organisation (CMO) is to promote innovation in agri-tech and food technology in Mid and North Wales.

The aim is to encourage innovation in services, technologies and methods while producing agricultural and food technology for the region while helping to co-ordinate activities and promote funding opportunities that are available to partners and stakeholders. The project will initially run for two years utilising funding by Innovate UK.

One of the main objectives of the project is to strengthen co-operation between businesses, research institutions and regional partners not only to promote innovation but in order to stay competitive in the food production and agri-tech sectors. This work will be supported through events, webinars and funding opportunities to support businesses.

Speaking on behalf of Growing Mid Wales, Carwyn Jones-Evans said:

“This funding is a significant milestone for the agri-food and agri-tech sectors in Mid and North Wales. The CMO will serve as a critical vehicle for bringing businesses, research partners, and funding opportunities together, ensuring that our region remains at the forefront of technological innovation.”

Elliw Hughes, Growth Deal Programme Manager, Ambition North Wales, said:

“The launch of the CMO is an exciting development which will enable us to harness and maximise the huge potential of the agri-food tech sectors across North and Mid Wales. We look forward to playing a central role in the process of ensuring eligible organisations benefit from the funding available.”

Rhian Hayward, CEO of AberInnovation, commented:

“This launch is a key moment for us, and we are excited to support the agri-food cluster. Our goal is to bring businesses and research organisations together to innovate in ways that are both economically viable and environmentally sustainable.”

Pryderi ap Rhisiart, Managing Director of M-SParc, added:
