IWA to hold event exploring a sustainable future for the communities of north Wales

The Institute of Welsh Affairs (IWA) have announced that they will be hosting and event titled ‘Towards a Sustainable Future for North Wales and its Communities’ with Bangor University looking at how best to create a prosperous and sustainable future for communities in north Wales. This is the last in a 3 year work programme that has seen the IWA and Bangor University organising a variety of events discussing public policy in Wales.

The event will consider the wellbeing of communities in north Wales as well as economic, environmental and social factors within a framework that recognises the necessity of sustainability. The event will also focus and link in themes from previous events including health economics, developing sustainable tourism, links between Wales and Ireland, Wales’s energy infrastructure and community ownership.

The evening will be chaired by Professor Andrew Teilo Edwards, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Bangor University, and among those taking part will be:

  • Dr Edward Jones – Senior Lecturer in Economics, Bangor University
  • Meleri Davies – Chief Officer, Partneriaeth Ogwen
  • Sarah Schofield – Director of Customers and Communities, Adra
  • Nia Jones – Executive Director, Cwmni Frân Wen
  • Dylan Williams – Chief Executive, Anglesey County Council
