Recently the ARFOR programme has published a new pack focusing on housing and homes in the region’s areas, and on the policies followed by the county councils that are part of the project within their individual areas.
As part of the remit of the second phase of ARFOR, programme organisers are required to present and share information about good practice in the fields of housing and homes across the region. The aim of the document is to provide an insight into the work being carried out by county councils, housing agencies and a range of other stakeholders in ARFOR communities in order to try to ensure a supply of homes that meet local needs. Although not all the housing programmes discussed in the document stem directly from ARFOR’s work, several have received support from ARFOR through programmes such as the Challenge Fund.
The document provides useful information for those wanting to find out what support is available when it comes to finding, buying or renting a house in the areas of Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Gwynedd and Anglesey. Particular attention is given to initiatives and projects such as local housing strategies, the use of empty homes officers, empty homes schemes, and measures such as increasing the premium on second homes in an attempt to reduce the number of holiday homes, as well as a means of raising capital that can be reinvested in building and providing homes that meet local needs.
