Farming Connect have announced that they are to hold farm safety sessions with the Wales Farm Safety Partnership in the Winter Fair this year. The aim of these workshops is to encourage safe working practices among younger members of the industry, ensuring that they have the necessary information and understanding that is needed to improve safety on Welsh farms.
Invitations have been sent to Wales’s agricultural colleges along with secondary schools that teach agriculture for them to come to the Lantra Building on the show ground in Builth. There, Brian Rees, who is a health and safety tutor with Farming Connect as well as being a farmer, will give presentations to the students on farm safety at 11am and 2pm on Monday and Tuesday 27 and 28 November.
These sessions will happen alongside the usual presence of the Wales Farm Safety Partnership in the Glamorgan Hall, where there will be the chance to win an ATV helmet in a daily competition.
Farming Connect also are organising sessions on safety in the Lantra Building, where training providers will be promoting the courses they have to offer in Room 1. On the Monday of the Show IBERS, JHS Ltd, PMR Ltd, NPTC and Simply The Best Training will take part, while on Tuesday IBERS, Coleg Sir Gâr, Mwmac Ltd, Insynch and St John’s Ambulance will be there to share information.
There will also be assistance available to complete a Personal Development Plan and e-learning modules along with help to apply for funding. Those who wish to attend these sessions must be registered with Farming Connect. To learn more about what Farming Connect have organised at the Winter Fair, visit their website.
