Cyngor Gwynedd has encouraged community and voluntary groups to try for capital or revenue grants worth up to £100,000 for them to help improve the lives of local people.
There are three programmes facilitated by Cyngor Gwynedd that could benefit community groups, the Community Regeneration Support Fund, the Community Support Fund and the Welsh Church Fund.
The Community Regeneration Support Fund is inviting capital and / or revenue applications of between £10,000 and £100,000. Cyngor Gwynedd received funding through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund in order to support projects that will support community regeneration. The aim of the fund is to offer intensive support to assist new groups in areas with low community capacity.
The Community Support Fund offers grants of up to £10,000 for projects that:
- Encourage communities to take a more proactive role in their areas
- Identify and respond to the social, linguistic, and cultural needs of the Community
- Promote investment and development of the local economy
- Improve locations that are important to Communities
- Increase job opportunities, skills development among individuals within communities, and promote equal opportunities for all
- Support volunteers and promote volunteering opportunities
- Encourage the protection and enrichment of the environment.
The Welsh Church Fund offers grants of up to £3,000 for charities that:
- Promoting knowledge and appreciation of the arts and literature of Wales
- Providing or assisting in providing facilities for entertainment or other leisure activities;
- Promoting architectural, historical or scientific interest relating to Wales.
There is also up to £300 available to hold a local eisteddfod in Gwynedd.
In a statement, Councillor Medwyn Hughes, Cyngor Gwynedd Cabinet Member for Economy and Community said:
“Cist Gwynedd grants support a variety of projects which strengthen communities throughout the county. This is an opportunity for our residents to make a real difference in their own communities.”
Councillor Nia Jeffreys, Leader of Cyngor Gwynedd added:
“The people of Gwynedd are doing essential work to bring vibrancy to our towns and villages. I am well aware of this good work and fully appreciate how difficult it is to continue because of the period of financial hardship we are going through, so I encourage voluntary groups and community organisations to apply for this funding; information is available on the Council’s website.”
