Cyngor Gwynedd has announced that the work of building three affordable homes in Llanberis, the first development in the Tŷ Gwynedd scheme is close to completion. The Council is encouraging local people who are interested in making an application to live in one of the houses to register with the local housing provision service Tai Teg.
These are the first houses to be built by the Council on the Dôl Afon Goch site in 30 years. The development includes two semi-detached houses with two bedrooms and one detached house with three bedrooms, with the building work intended to be completed in November of this year.
The houses will be sold by means of an equity loan from Cyngor Gwynedd, in order to try and ensure an affordable price for local people and to ensure the houses remain in the hands of local people in the future.
Councillor Paul Rowlinson, Cyngor Gwynedd’s Housing and Property Cabinet Member, said:
“Dôl Afon Goch in Llanberis is an important milestone for Cyngor Gwynedd, as this is the first development built as part of our Housing Action Plan. It’s clear that there is a great need for intermediate affordable houses, in Llanberis and across Gwynedd, and the Tŷ Gwynedd scheme is one of the ways we are responding to that demand. If you would like to apply for one of the houses, now is the time to register.
“Therefore, I encourage anyone who is interested in the houses, to visit the Tai Teg website in order to see if they are eligible to register for an affordable house.”
