Following a busy and exciting first year since its launch, Cymru Wledig LPIP Rural Wales is preparing to publish its first annual report. The report draws together the research projects that have been commenced and those already completed over the past year, demonstrating the breadth and depth of the diverse projects and partnerships underway across rural Wales.
LPIP Engagement Officer, Rhian Curtis said:
“It has been hugely exciting to draw together the projects into this report. We look forward to showcasing not only the important projects currently underway by Cymru Wledig LPIP Rural Wales and our partners in the community, but also the important recommendations which have arisen from the projects already completed. The research has revealed some clear recommendations which could have a significant impact and benefit to those living in communities in Rural Wales, and we look forward to bringing these recommendations to policy-makers and leaders, with the aim of creating lasting and positive change”.
Echoing previous statements, Cymru Wledig LPIP Rural Wales Director, Professor Michael Woods noted:
“Our work will be solution-oriented. We are not doing research for the sake of doing research, but in order to make a difference”.
The management team hope that this report will support and inspire the many other extremely worthwhile projects currently taking place in Wales, and beyond.
One of the next phases of their work is the recent launch of the Rural Wales LPIP Community-led Research Programme Grant. This is a new opportunity for six rural communities to receive £20,000 to explore what matters locally that can lead to positive change. More information, the grant application form and opportunity to discuss your ideas with the LPIP’s strategic partner Together for Change can be found here: Cymru Wledig LPIP Rural Wales – Community-led Action Research – Together for Change
The Annual Report will be launched at the Aberystwyth Arts Centre, at Aberystwyth University campus on 30 June, in collaboration with the WISERD Annual Conference, and will subsequently available for download and in hardcopy. Cymru Wledig LPIP Rural Wales will also be present at the Royal Welsh Agricultural Show in Builth Wells (21-24 July) and at the National Eisteddfod in Wrecsam (4-8 August) where there will be an opportunity to speak to the team and learn more about the project.
