Carmarthenshire Council advertises financial assistance for businesses to employ young people

October 2024 | Featured

Carmarthenshire County Council have announced that there is still the opportunity for businesses in the area to make an application for grants to help them employ young people as part of the ARFOR programme. Businesses can make an application for up to £6000 to offer short term work placements or employment for young people through Llwyddo’n Lleol, one of the ARFOR work streams.

One individual who has already benefited from the scheme is Megan Plumb from Rhydaman who got the chance to work with Menter Dinefwr. In a statement Megan said:

‘The support from Llwyddo’n Lleol has enabled me to work through the medium of Welsh in my local area where I grew up and that has helped to develop my skills to continue in employment.

The Mentro element has enabled me to offer a Modern Dance event for children and young people in the area through the medium of Welsh and also to raise awareness of Welsh music.”

The leader of Carmarthenshire County Council, Darren Price said:

‘Through our partnership with Arfor, I’m delighted to be able to offer this financial support to businesses in Carmarthenshire who are not only integral to our local economy, but also play a vital role in providing career prospects to our future generation and allowing our young people to build their futures here in Carmarthenshire.’

The offer is time limited and is only able to be used on staff costs up until the end of February 2025. To learn more about the scheme, contact Ceri Davies, Carmarthenshire’s Llwyddo’n Lleol Officer by e-mail: ceri.davies@mentera.cymru.
