The Welsh Government has called for evidence to inform a new Culture and Sport strategy for Wales.
The Culture and Sport Strategy for Wales will establish the current state of play, identify key outcomes for culture and sport to deliver for Wales, and work with partners to co-design the actions needed to get there.
For the first time, the culture strategy will be expanded to include the creative industries and sport.
The strategy will will be framed around 6 areas of focus:
- A Healthier Wales: Where culture and sport can improve the health and wellbeing of people;
- A Wealthier Wales: Where culture and sport can unlock more of our economic potential;
- A Resilient Wales: Where our cultural and sporting infrastructure be sustainable and cared for with a strong workforce in place;
- A Skilled Wales: Where education standards be raised and skills increased through embedding access to culture and sport for children and young people;
- A More Connected Wales: Where culture and sport bring people together, connecting our communities through a sense of place;
- A bi-lingual and confident Wales: How can our culture and sport are celebrated on a world stage.
A panel discussion was held at the National Eisteddfod, with engagement events planned across Wales and with individual sectors at all levels over the coming months.

The findings of the engagement process will be shared in Spring 2027 and will form the basis of the new strategy and sector specific action plans.
