On Thursday (5 March), the ARFOR Most Welsh in the World Awards 2026 ceremony was held at Y Maes, Criccieth — celebrating and recognising businesses and initiatives leading the way in their use of the Welsh language in the ARFOR area (Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire, Gwynedd and Anglesey).
Hosted by presenter Daloni Owen, winners were announced across eight categories — each contributing to the future of the Welsh language in the region — with refreshments from Flame and Grain Pizza and valuable networking opportunities throughout the evening.
Among the 2026 award winners were artist Lisa Eurgain Taylor, who won the Most Welsh Social Media in the World award; Er Dy Les Di for creating the Most Welsh Product in the World with their mindfulness resources for children; and Tec Tarw, a group of young boys who recycle old computers, receiving the title Most Welsh Youth in the World.
More than 200 nominations were received across the categories, along with over 4,000 public votes.
Nia Wyn Evans, Business Director of the theatre company Arad Goch, winners of the International Award for their work promoting the Welsh language beyond the borders of Wales, said:
“The Welsh language is at the heart of everything we do as a company — from the stage and sets to all the work that happens behind the scenes — so receiving recognition for the impact of that beyond ARFOR alone is something very special to us.
I would recommend that any business or initiative give Welsh a try. Whether there are mistakes or not, it’s more important that we use it, display it and sustain it than not use the language at all.”
Even the trophies had a connection with ARFOR, having been created by Dail Pren — a woodcraft business in Carmarthenshire that recently received support from the Llwyddo’n Lleol ARFOR programme.
The Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning, Rebecca Evans, said:
“The ARFOR programme has benefited individuals, businesses and communities across our Welsh-speaking heartlands, contributing positively to the economic prosperity of communities in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Gwynedd and Anglesey.
We are committed to supporting businesses to grow and develop as a key element in ensuring that Welsh-speaking strongholds remain vibrant and attractive places to live and work.”
