Last week Jayne Bryant, Cabinet Secretary for Housing and Local Government announces that the Welsh Government had established a Community Asset Commission. The aim of the commission would be to look at the land, buildings and natural resources of Wales, including arts centres, libraries, museums, green spaces and leisure centres in order to consider the future of such community resources.
The commission comes following recommendations made by the Senedd’s Local Government and Housing Committee following an inquiry about community assets. Independent academic research and stakeholder workshops will be provided by Cardiff University from 24 September to improve understanding, as well as look at ownership and management model options for theses assets and to consult on what route to take with community assets in future. The Comission’s Chair is Gwyn Roberts from Galeri Caernarfon. The other members of the commission are:
