NFU Cymru have announced that they will be holding a roadshow across Wales to discuss the consultation process for the Welsh Government’s Sustainable Farming Scheme. The nine events across Wales will be sponsored by Barclays Bank and signify NFU Cymru’s commitment to engage with stakeholders in the agricultural industry to ensure farmers’ voices are heard during the consultation process.
Members of NFU Cymru’s policy team, along with elected representatives from the union, will be attending the events and will provide a detailed overview of the consultation and the implications of the proposed plans on the agricultural industry in Wales. The aim is to ensure that farmers have the key information in order to help them respond effectively to the proposals.
The events will focus on the Sustainable Farming Scheme’s framework, eligibility for the scheme, the rules that govern the scheme, payment methodology and how the Welsh Government intend to manage the transition from the Basic Payment Scheme to the Sustainable Farming Scheme from 2025 onward. Attention will also be given to some of the union’s concerns regarding the plans, with a specific focus given to the 10% tree planting requirement for agricultural land that is part of the scheme.

- Tuesday 30 January – Nant yr Odyn Hotel, Anglesey – 2pm
- Tuesday 30 January – Porthmadog Football Club – 7:30pm
- Wednesday 31 January – Brecon Livestock Market – 7:30pm
- Thursday 1 February – Grove Golf Club, Porthcawl – 2pm
- Monday 5 February – Aberystwyth Rugby Club – 2pm
- Monday 5 February – Plas Hyfryd, Narberth – 7:30pm
- Wednesday 7 February (National Tenants’ meeting) – NFU Cymru office, Llanelwedd, Builth Wells – 11am
