Tickets for the fifth Wales Real Food and Farming Conference have gone on sale. The conference will be held in Coleg Cambria Llysfasi in Rhuthun on 1 + 2 November 2023. The aim of the conference is to bring together farmers, growers, agricultural workers and anyone else that has an interest in how we can see a different future for farming in Wales. The conference was established as a means of exploring how to make farming in Wales more sustainable and to promote ideas such as food sovereignty and social justice.
Sarah Dickins, who is a sustainable economics advisor, an organic farmer, and former economics correspondent for BBC Cymru Wales. Sarah also works as part of the Wales Net Zero 2035 Challenge Group, that has been tasked by the Welsh Government with finding solutions to the challenges that climate change presents to the people of Wales.
Other speakers will be discussing a wide range of topics such as food security, how to balance food production and nature, keeping and maintaining orchards, methods of selling food locally, biodiversity in farming, food partnerships and managing water in an agricultural context.
Organisers of the conference are keen for the help of volunteers to aid them with arrangements for the event. As the Wales Real Food and Farming Conference is a voluntary organisation dependent on funding and ticket sales to be able to hold the event, they are calling for individuals that want to take part and volunteer to contact them to help.
